PRAY FOR DAMAR

This message is about life, not at all about funding so feel free to close this out if you like.

If you are still here, thank you for reading. I wanted to use my network, following, whatever you want to call it to speak about something I saw this past Monday night:

I was watching Monday night Football. Big game with two of the top five teams playing one another to help determine playoff seeding. I stepped away to let my dog outside to pee. When I walked back inside, I looked at the TV and play was stopped. It took me a moment to realize what was going on. Play was stopped, most of the players and coaches were on the field, some were going to their knees to pray. You see this every season a handful of times so I said a little prayer for the player that I had never heard of, and went to the kitchen for a drink. Came back in and something was different. They were bringing an ambulance onto the field and the two head coaches were talking in the middle of the field. This part was new. That never happens. The announcers spoke for 20 minutes or so nonstop. I got bored and turned on Fox News and they were showing the same. Suddenly the severity of the situation hit me... this young man was hurt for real. This was not a broken bone or a sprain. This was life and death! 

I started Googling this young man's name. I found out he is a very good player, a recent college graduate from Pittsburgh, and he does many things in his own community to help others. I literally started crying right there on my couch. Actual crying for quite a while. If you know me personally, you know I am a Veteran, an ex-fighter, and definitely not someone that cries. The thing is, this young man has that affect on people. He was and IS an incredibly good human being. Damar is, as far as the public knows at least, a single man with no children. I am thankful for that. I would hate to have his kids see their daddy going through this. Thankfully that is not the case. His parents are also good people. His mother is Nina and his father is Mario. They had Damar when Nina was only 16 years old. They taught him to be good to others and to look for ways to help people in his life. If you do some reading about him, you will see that he absolutely does this. He is a good young man with a great future. His is always smiling and his smile lights up the room! I have prayed for him and his future dozens of times and will continue to do so. Feel free to join me with your own prayer if you like right now.

Friends, life is short and very, very valuable. Your life is a gift and I hope it goes well for you. Man or woman, short or tall, liberal or conservative, your life is worth something and I hope it goes well. I am a single 50 year old guy so my life is just me and my amazing little dog Max but I have a Mother and Father that I love very much. I make sure they both know that I love them. If you have family that does not live with you, whether you get along or not, make the call. Make it today. All you have to do is tell them that they are important to you and that you love them and think of them every day. If you have kids, give them a big hug and say something nice and encouraging to them. Please use what has happened to be good to your loved ones and show them they matter.

There are many things going wrong in America right now but at this time I am not interested in thinking about or discussing those topics. Tonight and for me this entire week are about showing love to my parents, my small group of close friends, and constantly praying for Damar Hamlin. 

I really appreciate you reading this rather long post. Sorry, I had a lot to say. I hope you ALL have an amazing night. Tomorrow, please find a way to do some good for others. Do it for yourself, Jesus, Damar Hamlin, or anyone else but let's go out and do some good.

Damar, get better. You have literally millions of new fans that love you, support you, and just want to see you smile again, walk again, and live a full life.

Pray for #3 Damar Hamlin.

I do not post very much on this or any website but I have been a member for years. One thing I have noticed is that you (Monty) seem to be one of the most caring people anywhere online. Though I don't post much, I get on this website at least a few times a week just to see what people are posting. Years ago I inherited a large amount of both money and properties and although I have used this website for funding to purchase an investment property in the past, I normally pay cash as I add to my portfolio. Either way, because of what this website represents I will always read the posts and I still read some of the email blasts.

I have noticed that you are trying very hard to make the world a better place. It is very encouraging. Unfortunately, when you look at our own country, there is a very small percentage of what I would consider good people. Obviously you are. I just hope that you will not let the low quality of the average person in the USA keep you from the constant good that you always do, and try to get others to do. I live in hell, otherwise known as NYC (I will move to Florida this Spring). A while back I read an email blast from you about paying for the groceries of an old lady that was in your line at the grocery store. I was so inspired that I went out the next day here in Manhattan and gave a $200 tip to my waitress as my daughter and I went out to lunch. She was older, overweight, sweating, and working very hard. She still managed to smile at everyone, even asking my daughter her name and how she was doing that day. The bill was probably $40 so I just paid with a card and left an additional two $100 bills. When I handed the bill, my card, and the $100 bills to her, she asked if she would like the card back and just pay with one of the $100 bills. I told her I thought she was very sweet and to put that money in her pocket. She started to cry. She said her husband was ill and she was working double shifts because he could no longer go to work himself. My daughter and I started crying too. If I had not read your message I would have never thought to do that! That is the kind of thing that people like you inspire. Giving is infectious and when good people see or hear of these great acts they will follow suit whether you know about it or not. I just wanted you to know this.

I mention the above because I want you to know, Monty, that even though you are frustrated at the lower quality of humans surrounding us, there are still people that are inspired by your words all the time. That is because they feel the same way you do, as do I. Do not give up! Yes most humans are pretty darn low these days but there are also people like you, me, and the others that have commented here that love what you do, what you are about, and want to do good things for others.

Keep doing God's work. I hope and believe that others will follow you and be inspired to become better people. People that help others for no reason or benefit to themselves other than doing what Jesus expects us all to do.

As of right now, Damar's eyes are open. He can now move his fingers very slightly. His breathing is also improving. He is still in critical condition according to his doctors but this is the best possible news!

I do not know Damar personally. I just felt that this young man deserved our love, prayers, and support. He did not do anything to deserve this, other than playing a violent sport. A great sport, but sometimes things go wrong. This was a one in a million situation. All I can hope is that every hour and every day he gets just a little better. Maybe he is walking this summer. Maybe next year he can begin to lead a normal life. He is only 24 years old. He can still have an amazing life, a wife, children. He can still do it all. He just needs our prayers.

I'm praying for Damar and his family!  I pray for a speedy recovery so he can experience life to the fullest!  I'm glad to see the community coming together to support Damar and that the game was halted to focus on what really matters, human life!  It's easy to forget about that as we cheer on our favorite team and compete against each other in sports, but in the end, we are all human beings...

I read your post and cried like a baby but this is not about that touching post or about me. This is about a 24 year old man struggling to stay alive. If you are someone that prays for others, this is the time. 

Dear Jesus,

A great young man fights for his life as we all live ours. He is in intensive care and needs your help. Great Jesus, please put your arms around Damar and help lift him out of his coma. Please help him recover so that he may one day have a family of his own. Jesus, you and only you can lift him up. In the name of the Lord, Amen.
