<p>I live in the Seattle area. I do own my own home, with a mortgage. As far as buying rentals, last year I made $80k and I cant even qualify for a rental property because property values are so freaking high. A 3/2 in a middle class neighborhood here is $800k+. I need to do like Louis and start buying out of state!</p>

<p>Where I live in Memphis the rental market is strong but I am currently focused on buying Florida properties. I think there is better long term property appreciation and it seems much easier to rent out properties for above the mortgage payment, especially on the properties priced below 400k</p>
